Wahlberg to be Involved in Latest Grisham ...

11 Apr 2012
Actor rumoured to be in talks to star in, and produce, big screen adaptation of The Partner.
Talks may still be at an early stage, but it's looking likely that Mark Wahlberg will be involved in the latest adaptation of John Grisham's work for the big screen. The Partner is centred around a young partner at a big name law firm who decides to pull a bit of a swindle, fake his own death and make off to Brazil with the cash to start a brand new life. We haven't read this particular novel, but if it's anything like Grisham's other work (and we have no reason to doubt that it is) then we're sure it's a thoroughly enjoyable piece of writing.
Walhberg's involvement isn't simply going to be on the acting front, with the start set to nab a production credit too. Unfortunately for the project, they're going to need to replace former director John Lee Hancock who has cancelled his involvement with the movie according to Variety.
It's been almost ten years since we've seen a Grisham adaptation in 2003's Runaway Jury, after a spate of them between 1993 and 1998, so we're definitely overdue one at this stage - let's just hope it can live up to the standards of the likes of The Firm and A Time to Kill.
