Argo trailer arrives

08 May 2012
We get a peek at Ben Afflecks latest
When former figure of fun Ben Affleck delivered up the finely crafted Gone Baby Gone in 2007, audiences and critics alike were half expecting it to be nothing more than a filmmaking fluke. Then the former action star and one half of Bennifer wrote and directed 2010s The Town, confirming his position as one of the most exciting young directors around.Affleck’s name has been associated with a number of projects in the years since The Town, and what he finally settled on fits securely in his crime movie frame while also giving the chance to play things out on a larger canvass, with an even bigger roster of stars.Argo is the true story of a crack CIA team who concocted a unique ploy to rescue six American diplomats who were trapped in Iran in 1979. The plan involved a group of operatives posing as a film crew scouting locations for their latest movie – a sci-fi blockbuster called Argo. Together with fake papers and even a movie poster mocked up by the CIA, they would head deep into enemy territory for a daring rescue.
The first trailer for Argo has just been released, and it’s looking mighty fine.
Ben Affleck also stars and is joined by an impressive cast including Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, Alan Arkin, Kyle Chandler and Taylor Schilling and the film comes from a script by Chris Terrio, which was itself based on a Wired article from 2007 by Joshuah Bearman.Argo is set to arrive in cinemas on the 12th of October.
