Does this sound like a tragic comedy?
10 Things I Hate About You could be in line to get a sequel titled 10 Things I Hate About Life, starring Hayley Atwell. Gil Junger will once again write the script, but has also been attached to direct the project. The inspiration for the sequel to the high school comedy released in 1999 is from “coming across a man who had committed suicide at a scenic overlook.” The story follows two relatable, ordinary people whose lives have become unmanageable. Junger said that they go to the same destination to end it all, but their meeting happens to be so raw, awkward and funny that they postpone and go their separate ways.
Shooting is planned to start in November. It is said that the film will advance situations from 10 Things I Hate About You, which starred Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. From the details outlined so far, it certainly doesn’t sound like the most fitting material for a comedy, and seems completely detached from linking it as any sort of sequel. We'll have to wait and see how this one pans out.
