Test Audiences demanded the Tatum
Last Week it was revealed that highly anticipated action packed Summer Blockbuster G.I. Joe Retaliation would sadly turn into March 2013 springtime release G.I. Joe Retaliation. The explanation given by Paramount Pictures for this delay was a decision to convert the picture, post production, into that accursed third dimension.
To understate, it left a sour taste in the mouth.
Now, according to Deadline, test audiences also resented the fact Channing Tatum’s character, Captain Duke Hauser, bit the big one before any real chemistry or connection could be established with his walking mountain of charisma co-star, The Rock.Deadline’s Paramount insiders revealed,
“We went back and shot another week with Channing to develop more of his story with The Rock, which made the film play much better. But we didn’t have the time to be in 3D.”
The blow of Retaliation’s massive delay is softened somewhat by this revelation. Any attempt to improve the film’s overall quality is commendable.
But whatever about Tatum, the fact our summers are now painfully devoid of The Rock is a wound that will need continual licking for some time yet!!!
