Teen novel gets the big screen treatment
First appearing as a book in 1999, from author Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower is making its way to the big screen this year and we’ve got the trailer below to prove it.
Written and directed by Chbosky himself (who we image has been woe of clerical officers for years with a second name like that), the film follows the story of a teenager called Charlie – a shy kid who goes out of his way to blend into the background, riding the train of mediocrity towards graduation. But, when he chances into a friendship with some older students and begins to come out of his shell.
The film stars Gamer's Logan Lerman as Charlie and also features Emma Watson and Ezra Miller.

While it doesn’t look like its going to break any of the conventions of the teen drama genre, Wallflower looks like a sweet growing up story and the cast is actually halfway interesting – particularly Miller who was mesmerising in last year’s We Need to Talk About Kevin. Lerman is a fine performer and while the jury is still out on Watson, her presence is bound to bump up the audience recognition for the film. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is in cinemas from the 5th of October and we’ll be chatting to the stars before then.
