Russell Crowe set to direct Hicks flick
25 Jul 2012
Russell Crowe is set to make his directorial debut in a Bill Hicks biopic.
The 48-year-old Gladiator star is stepping behind the camera to helm the movie about the late US comedy legend, which will be written by the Hollywood actor’s former schoolmate Mark Staufer.
Russell was originally in talks to play Bill (32) — who died tragically from cancer in 1994 — with production due to begin early next year.
Hicks, although not massively famous while alive, has gone on to be considered as one of the most influential stand-up comedians of all time.
