Dark Tower movies face important two weeks

04 Aug 2012
The next two weeks look like critical ones in the life of the long-delayed Dark Tower movie trilogy/TV show as Warner Bros. finally make the decision on whether or not to proceed.
Enjoying one of the most rabid fan-bases in all of fiction, Stephen King's epic seven-book series has been bounced from studio to studio, with Universal passing on the project before Warner Bros. picked it up. However, Deadline is now reporting the studio is to receive the completed script re-writes in the next two weeks, with an ultimate decision made on whether to proceed with the project or consign it to history. Ron Howard has long been lined up to helm the first film in the trilogy, with Javier Bardem long-rumoured to be playing the Gunslinger, Roland Deschain. However, Russell Crowe has now entered the mix to play the lead character thanks to the presence of producer Brian Grazer on the project (The two have previously worked together on Cinderella Man). If the project is ultimately green lit, fans can expect to see a trilogy of movies detailing the major events of the books, as well as a mini-series (perhaps on the Time Warner owned HBO) filling in the bridging events of the story. Either way, we're hoping this project finally gets approval!
