Uncharted film finds a writing team

24 Aug 2012
Project still facing delays
The movie adaptation of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune has lost its director, but has picked up a screenwriting team. Marianne and Cormac Wibberley, who previously teamed up for the National Treasure films and Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, will take on the writing duties. Naturally, Sony will be hoping that they can work their magic once again with this new franchise, which could mean big business. This follows the news that Neil Burger stepped away from the project to make the book adaptation Divergent. Sony will be on the hunt for a new director in the near future, but this is not the first time that the search has been restarted. Original director David O. Russell was attached to the project in February 2011. He later left to work on The Silver Linings Playbook. Sony doesn’t appear to be in any rush with this project and it could be this approach that is hampering the film. Is a film adaptation of Uncharted something that you would like to see?
