Javier Bardem is "very happy" about Penelope Cruz's pregnancy.
The Spanish actor is ecstatic about the upcoming birth but admits he and his actress wife - who is around four-and-a-half months pregnant -are yet to start thinking about names for their first child.
He said: "It is true. I am very happy."
Asked if the couple had thought of a name during an interview in Rome, Italy, he said: "No, not yet."
Even though he is about to become a father, the 41-year-old hunk - who married the Spanish star in a secret ceremony in the Bahamas in July - does not yet feel in a position to give advice about balancing family life with a film career.
He said: "It is a little too soon for me to be giving any advice. I don't know yet. But I will find out soon."
The notoriously private couple only announced the pregnancy after Penelope, 36, was pictured on the set of 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' with a baby bump, forcing them to reveal details.
Penelope has previously claimed she would like to have several children, and would even consider adopting.
She said: "I'd love to have kids. Maybe I'll adopt about 20 children - that's been my dream since I was a little girl. I want to have my own kids, but also adopt. For a while I've had the feeling that my life won't be complete if I don't adopt.
"I think I would be a perfect mother. I love babies."
