Maybe one of the greatest British films ever, its still astonishing to look at. A Lancaster pilot is involved in a crash but due to a heavenly mix up is caught somewhere between life and death. Cue some incredibly imaginative visual sequences and a smart witty script. David Niven is fantastic as the cultured pilot trying to talk himself out of heaven. A timeless classic.

some very funny parts, but really not enough to hold your attention throughout, a 'nice' film but for a slightly hunger audience

What's it about....
It's night over Europe, the night of the 2nd of May 1945. A crippled Lancaster Bomber struggles home across the English Channel, all crew dead save for the young pilot desperately scanning the radio for signs of life. His prayers are answered.
