Not My Cup of Tea

I guess I made a mistake in trying to watch this old Channel 4 TV mini series. There are ten hours of it but I got bored after half an hour - though I'm sure my ex wife would have loved it. I found the quality also disappointing, it reminded me of how tacky early movies could be when they are transcribed from old video tape. I love Jenny Seagrove, but her attempt at a Yorkshire accent was less than convincing. I did laugh once - when I saw what they had done to Harrod's!

I read the book when it came out first and was really looking forward to seeing how it translated to film. as with most epics some bits have to go when its made into a film - the basics of the book are here - you miss out on descriptive detail more than on the story. A good night in!

I read all of these book about 20 years ago. this was an interesting recall albeit an old story... I used to think she was quite the hero, but now I see her as selfish and pushy... interesting times we live in

Not often a good story like this one comes along. All the drama of a classic. Definately not boring!
