Enjoyable look at theatre life in London in the late 1930's. Annette Benning is superb as the title character, who seems to live her entire life as if she is always on stage - everything is an act. Adapted from a Somerset Maughan short story ("Theatre") - same author as Of Human Bondage, The Moon and Sixpence and the current release The Painted Veil. Worth a look.

This is a really enjoyable film, a surprising treat. Well worth a look especially if you want a break from modern brash hollywood type films.

Great acting but the story line is dreadful!
