The lane to freedom...

I really enjoyed this film, was drawn into it and had not one second of the feeling of boredom. It is not always or not really about a sad girl/woman wishing for a better life it is about the STRENGTH the REAL strength of a woman. what she can achieve, endure with such inner strength to find her true self. Fantastic movie, loved it!!

Enjoyable film about girl wishing for a different life. Alot of the scenery and how she lives is miserable and mundane but you get a taste of how her life is. Would recommend it as the ending keeps you holding out so you can see what happens. I feel immigrants would really enjoy this film

i really liked this one. For someone who has lived in London it really shows the diversity and yet the isolation. It had one of the best 'turn-around' aspects of character development that I've seen in a long time, and although it won't blow your socks off, it might be one you'd remember....
read the book...

... it is miles better than the film. Not that the film is bad. It's just that it starts around half way through the story that the book tells. And that's a pity because you miss out on so much. BUT, the cast is great and some sequences are visually very good.
Exactly like the Book!!

I found the book hard going and a bit monotonous at times and the movie was also...i guess it gives a good discription of what life must be like for a bangladeshi girl forced into an arranged marriage in London but it just made you want to nod off to sleep...
