Just read the reviews whereby people mention this is the directors cut - didn't notice this when renting and wish that I had! I had lovely memories of this movie and was looking forward to see it - but coming in at under 3 hours, this is a tough slog to get through - the child actor is adorable, but the acting of the other leads is melodramatic and the film seems to have dated badly in the 20 years since release. Although maybe my opinion would be different if I saw the original. Screenclick

I adore this heartwarming movie - but watching it as a director cut it gets bloated and self indulgent especial at the end...very disappointed as I was watching it with someone else I had raved about it to, and they ending up hating it!!! I give the original cut full marks, but the extra (and pointless!) scenes halved my enjoyment!

People shy away from sub titles...why? YOU ARE MISSING BEAUTIFUL MOVIES!!!! This is appealing to men and women.touches the heart on human relationships and not to be sad when you loose a friend or loved one.we are all here to meet people and share experiences no matter what age we are or where we are in life.
Essential viewing for any cinema fan

This a superb film from start to finish. A love story is intertwinded with the love of film in the 1950s. The story is simply yet powerful. Great music from Ennio Morricone punctuates the film throughout. Although the film is long, this is the directors cut, I was enthralled from start to finish. A classic.

Why change something as perfect as the original-the greatest movie for film and cinema lovers ever?The Director's Cut is too long with un-necessary scenes-a futile exercise in self-indulgence!
Please stock original and bin this version!!!
