I found this movie has aged badly and doesn't have anything like the same impact now. The story is very unrealistic in places, for example the woman whose child is abducted really never looks more than mildly bothered about it and when she gets him back, its like she found her car keys. Richard Dreyfuss character heads off with the aliens leaving his family without too much fuss either. A lot of staring in calm awe at the alien craft and not half as much emphasis on what real people would do in that situation.

I found this film quite boring and I think I fell asleep but Dad really enjoyed it or he said he did I think he watched it when he was a kid. I would say if any kid would watch this they would probably be a boy and would be between the age of 7-11. I personly thought it was rubish!

I have always regarded this to be a classic film, from a storyline, concept and direction point of view. Even my 10 year old appreciated it after he got over the fact that the graphics weren't quite a "good" as what he would generally watch !
