Oh my... where to start with this film? I rented this based on strong star rating here and several recommendations from friends who said the film and the soundtrack were both excellent. I now know to no longer trust my friends opinions.
If you enjoy slow films with little or no dialog, unbelievable characters, unbelievable plot, unnecessary violence and wooden acting, then this is the film for you. The film frustrated from start to finish as the director attempts to create an air of suspense and mystery in the form of long, drawn out scenes where the characters stare at each other and say very little. It then flips from sparse conversation to seemingly unprovoked gratuitous violence. An example being the elevator scene where our hero decides it is necessary to stamp a guy's head into a bloody mess on the floor because he spotted he was carrying a gun. I don't mind bloody scenes in films if the plot warrants it. In the case of drive though, it seems like an unnecessary addition to ge

This is an amazing film. Theres lots who talk about lack of dialog and excessive violence, they are wrong . Plenty of dialog and non dialog i.e.. lighting, gestures etc to puch the plot along, and the small amounts of bloody violance are tasteful and definatly important in pulling the plot along. Also make sure you have good speakers cause the soundtrack is an important part of the dialog and atmosphere. I just watched this for the second time and I was afraid I wouldnt like it as much as the first, but i was wrong........ Love it.

The sight of Ryan Gosling as the main character in the movie may have sent many a female heart a flutter, its a great pity the movie didn't :-(
A movie about a stunt driver/getaway driver sounded like the recipe for a fantastic film but was sorely let down by the script and the director, with dramatic pauses longer than 'Days of our Lives'!! Gosling never had a lot to say throughout the movie and sadly the action didn't make up for the lack of dialogue ... The movie defo took a wrong turn

Really enjoyed it. great opening scene. it is very violent in places, but is not gratuitous violence (well maybe the one scene) which can make for some uncomfortable vieiwing. excellent actors, acting and soundtrack, great story and characters, a bit 80s on its approach, not a lot of dialogue

Great cast, great concept, great script. great soundtrack......I basically loved it. It's very stylish and well made. The scene in the lift, which is totally mesmerizing, is worth the rental alone. Do yourself a favor and rent it out. I'd be surprised if you didn't like it.
