4.5 out of 10 Driving Miss Daisy
Imelda from Tipperary, 23 Apr 2008
Great performances from Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman with Alfred Uhry's excellent script, adapted from his Pulitzer Prize-winning stage play. The film scores high marks for its cultural details of life in the southern United States, and the changes that take place over the story's twenty-five years. The film's major themes touch on universal issues -- growing older, overcoming racial prejudice, and the importance of friendship.

4.5 out of 10 Driving Miss Daisy

Absolutely charming film with a real feel of the South. Morgan Freeman is brilliant. Extra features showing how the film was made are great too. If you like Fannie Flagg's books you'll love this.

Good film, a bit slow moving in places. Sad to see how old people can eventually become.....

What's it about....
Hoke Colburn sits in the front seat with his hands on the steering wheel, but the driver's seat is behind him. That's where Miss Daisy sits. She doesn't want a chauffeur and she won't give in. And neither will Hoke. 'Driving Miss Daisy', the Best Picture Academy Award winner of 1989, is also the best, most joyful, heartfelt comedy in a long time. Based on Alfred Uhruy's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, it tells the story of genteel but strong-willed Southern matron Daisy...
