Great Movie

The title seems to mislead a lot of people who are expecting a light rom-com or similar, its anything but.
Its a sometimes dark, often funny story about comedians and to an extent its written for comedians, its an insight into the world of the struggling performer and the rivalries that appear.
Sandler plays a legendary comic who discovers early on that he has a serious illness and examines his life, relationships and career.
Its not a regular Adam Sandler film, its more like Punch Drunk Lov

Almost a classic

Adam Sandler is one of those actors that people tend to love or hate. Well I hate all his retarded flicks such as the Waterboy, Little Nicky etc but really enjoyed his roles in Spanglish and Reign Over Me. And thankfully this was more like the latter bunch. It takes a slightly more serious look at the lonely and sometimes depressing side of a stand up comics life. When diagnosed with a terminal disease he takes Rogan under his wing as a joke writer. There are plenty of gags throughout, but all f

Really boring

This could so easily have been a great film. In fact there are two great films in here but they're jumbled up and the two story lines. a) Comedian with terminal illness has regrets and wants to make up for past mistakes. b) Comedian at top of his game takes on unknown to help write his act.
Either would have been worth seeing but in this film it looks like they were mashed together with no thought and very little effort.
Right, so not 'funny' as in ha-ha funny...

Firstly, the title is waaaaaay too 'ironic' - maybe should have been called 'Are You Serious?' Good enough otherwise and Adam Sandler is pretty good although you get the feeling he's just playing himself. It's a pity it's gets a bit drawn out towards the end with his ex wife and her family but certainly worth a look.
