3.5 out of 10 Gamer - Action packed with no punch
Brock from Limerick, 24 Apr 2010
I'd aimagine this would look impressive on the big screen, a mix of cold and warm stocks, close ups, fast paced editing and battle scenes to rival "Saving Private Ryan". One scene set in 'Society' plays out like a music video, reminding me of 'Black Hole Sun' from Soundgarden. Slick FX, of that there is no doubt, but it is badly let down with pretty poor acting and over convolluted plot line, plays more like a 2D comic book rather than a narrative film. So, if you're after an action packed gut b

2.5 out of 10 Surprisingly Not Bad
Timmy from Cork, 23 Jul 2010
I didn't have high expectations. I mean it's a movie based on an in-game character! But Butler is perfect for the part. It's not a great part but he fills it perfectly! There are no big surprises in the course of the movie but it is filled with action! Enough to hold anybody with a short attention span! Anybody with a 7.1 True-HD sound system should definitely try this just for the sound at least! It does work well with other systems but shines at 7.1! You can judge this movie by the traile

0.5 out of 10 If you like being hurt, go for it...
Eimear from Cork, 05 May 2010
It bangs, it shakes, it jitters, it runs....Much ado about nothing really because there is absolutely no flesh to the bones of that film. I was expecting much more from Ger Butler who can kick the greek legion's ass without breaking a drop of sweat. On this one, he can't convince me that he has potential for kicking the s**t out of a geek who "controls the planet"....brrrr... it's poorly acted, scenario inexistent, storyline is as thin as a 6 days old Iarnród Éireann triangle ham sandwich!

What's it about....
After directing the frenzied CRANK, Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor helm another adrenaline-fueled film with this thriller. 300's Gerard Butler stars as Kable, a man living in a near-future dystopia driven by online games. Kable is the world's best player at its biggest game, where players take control of real people, but the competition really begins when he tries to fight the system itself.
