This is about as good as film-making gets. It would take longer to say what's good about this movie than it takes to watch it...and don't let the length put you off, there's a nicely-placed intermission to let you watch it in two convenient parts. A brilliant telling of one of the twentieth century's most remarkable lives.

Very very long movie It spans from 1893 in south africa to 1948 in India to Gandhi's eventual assasination. Well worth a look as he was a pretty amazing man. Ben Kingsley in excellent form . Some very good special features included.

For those interested in the historical perspective, this is essential viewing. For those who simply want to watch a good yarn, this won't let you down. Ben Kingsley is entirely convincing as the great man.

I am so glad that I finally got round to watching this. I learnt loads about Indian / Pakistani history (in a way that Wild Swans taught me much about China) as well as the amazing man and his circle.

Absolutely astonishing. Gandhi is such an inspiring character. Great acting.
