Lost its Luster

When released Gladiator became the benchmark for all movies of this action/drama genre but has since lost its place to Lord of the Rings and 300.
Its a shame really because there is no particular flaws to be had with this movie the action is intense and well directed all the actors and actresses play their parts very well poor Russell Crowe will be lucking if he ever escapes the Gladiator shadow.
I sapose Gladiator could be summed up as a pioneer in its genre but since deposed by newer release
I am Maximus!

Excelent soundtrack, fantastic action sequences both large scale and small and great acting make this a classic. Ridley Scott pulled out all the stops with this one and the adept director did good. Surely you have all seen and loved it but for anyone who missed it, just get it out, crank up the volume and enjoy!
I am Bigus Dickus!

This is a good watch up until the end of the first battle scene, but descends into melodramatic farce from that point on. Completely rediculous. Also unfortunately started a trend for big, empty blockbusters that still persists today. Avoid at all costs.
