3 out of 10 Slow, but interesting and somewhat bizarre
Maggie from Mayo, 09 Jan 2008
An interesting film about a cannibal and his victim. The girl in the story really had little relevance, and added nothing to the plot. Don't think the cine film style of the boys' childhoods added to the film in terms of atmosphere, and in general, I found the drab colour of the film irritating. Well acted, but child actors were rather stilted. A look at unusual human behaviour, and certainly not for the squeamish.

1 out of 10 grimm is right!!
Klair from Dublin, 28 Jan 2008
This movie wasnt really up to much. Kerri Russels charecter, as the american in germany researching the cannibal and his victim for her thesis, was completely unnecessary. it should have just been a movie about the Cannibal and his victim and then i might have rated it better...

3 out of 10 Disturbing
Martina from Tipperary, 12 Mar 2008
Disturbing cause it's based on a true story, thought it was well told from both perspectives. If your a horror fan its well worth a watch, like all great horrors its what you don't see that freaks you out...

1 out of 10 Dull and somewhat pointless...
john from Meath, 24 Apr 2008
..considering there is a much better (although extremely graphic) version of the same story under the title "Cannibal" (directed by Marian Doran). Check this one out instead, if you can stomach it.

very disturbing movie but still had to watch to the end and must say knowing it was a true account made it all the more disturbing

What's it about....
In Germany, as graduate student Katie Armstrong (Russell) researches cannibal killer Oliver Hagen (Kretschmann) for her thesis, she becomes obsessed with her subject and ultimately plunges into a lifestyle similar to Hagen's and the thousands of people like him.
