Rivetting thriller

With superb performances from Rod Steiger as the racist chief of police and Sidney Poitier in the lead role. If you haven't seen it I thoroughly recommend it.

Aactually, although I was worried I wouldn';t like this as it's a classic it's brilliant. Very entertaining & I'd highly recommend it!

A classic film, well deserving of its Oscar and it has aged well. Sidney Poitier and Rod Steiger are excellent.

What's it about....

The winner of the 1967 Oscar for Best Picture, "In the Heat of the Night" is set in a small Mississippi town where an unusual murder has been committed. Rod Steiger plays sheriff Bill Gillespie, a good lawman despite his racial prejudices. When Virgil Tibbs (Sidney Poitier), a well-dressed African-American and Philadelphia police detective, comes to town, the two must betray culturally dictated conclusions of the other to grudgingly work together to solve the murder case....
