disappointing

I was expecting a lot from this film, having seen and liked the trailers. But it was utterly disappointing. The story was basic, no surprises anywhere. While Robert Downey Jr only gives a mediocre performance here, Jeff Bridges as the bad guy was the only ray of light, but his performance couldn't save the film either. This was one of the weakest Marvel adaptations.
Nice

I really enjoyed this film. Downey Jr. makes the character emminently likeable and the film moves along at a great pace. Some of the smaller roles are a bit strange. Jeff Bridges is a bit cartoonish and Gwyneth Paltrow accepts a strangely insignificant role. Other than that this is a highly entertaining film and a recommended watch.
Yawnnnnnnn!

Maybe if I had'nt rented the Hulk last week this might of felt better. But basically, the endings of both films are identical. Downey's a likeable character but it's beyond predictable, even for a pop-cron film. Some cool bits, but not enough to satisfy. Kids will love it though, but not as good as say, X-Men or even Spiderman 1.
Really enjoyable super hero movie with an edge

Has all of the usual parts of the super hero movie formula, but Robert Downey Junior makes it way more enjoyable than the usual rubbish. One negative is that it is shamelessly set up for a sequel in quite an uncreative way, but in saying that I'd easily be up for Iron Man 2.
Iron Man

Cracking actioner, well acted, with a quality script. Downey Jnr in fine form and having fun, as the genius weapons creator forced down another road after escaping (just) from Islamic terrorists.
Favourite bit? What a cool plane; pole-dancing stewardesses.
