Is there anybody there

An unexpected gem of a movie which centres around the relationship struck up between young boy and retired magician (Michael Caine) residing in retirement home run by young boys parents.
Caine turns in a terrific performance and there are some wonderful comic touches here.
This is directorial debut from young Irish director John Crowley and would recommend it to anyone.
Anyone There

Michael Caine as far as I am concerned was tailor picked for this film. He played the part brilliant as the aging "jack the lad" from his Alfie days... Bill Milner played the part of the boy in his usual style, I am sure we will see a lot more of this lad in the big screen. Would recommend this film to anyone. Though provoking and excellent casting...

Not a bad movie and makes you think with some funny bits thrown in, I did enjoy it especially Michael Caine who was impressive, my only complaint was that we nearly saw all the best bits in the trailer so was a little bit let down in the movie it self but again only a minor thing would still recommend this.
Engaging, funny and touching

Michael Caine is brilliant as usual. Some hilarious moments (you'll remember the finger incident long after!), and it's a sweet and touching movie about a young boy whose house is turned into an old people's home, who becomes consumed with what happens after death.
A Great Caine. A Great Film

Caine turns in another terrific performance although each of the actors is superb. The story of a young boy trying to make sense of life in an old folks home is believable and interesting.
It's a great story and it's very well told.
