4 out of 10 Let's hope this review is not too long......... :)
Frances from Waterford, 10 May 2011
I thought the film was very good viewing and more of an action film than I was expecting, in a sort of Jurrasic Park meets The Mummy sort of way. Can't really understand the previous negative views about the film being too long - if you are enjoying a film you are not going to be concerned about how long it is going on - if you are not enjoying the film, switch it off, pop it in the envelope and post it back! Simples!

1 out of 10 way too long
mark from Dublin, 11 Sep 2007
Really thought this movie was way too long. Loved Jackson's "Lord of the rings trilogy" but thought this was self indulgent and really had ridiculous parts (dinosaurs!!!!) that were plucked out of a hat and added to the script. I knew it wasn't gonna be more than a light bit of fun but I found myself egging them on to Kill King Kong so I could go to bed!

3.5 out of 10 King Kong 2005
Martin from Kerry, 20 Feb 2008
This is way too long at three hours, some of the effects are a bit dodgy despite all the time and money involved, and the general feeling is that they did not know when to stop adding effects or minutes. That said when it's good it's really good. It has a nice cast and a good story and the gorilla is great. You won't regret seeing it.

2 out of 10 Too long
Rónán from Dublin, 18 Mar 2008
King Kong is a pretty average remake and coming from Peter Jackson its very disappointing. Some of the action sequences on the island are interesting but overall its about 45 mins too long and not very interesting.

0.5 out of 10 Very disappointing
John from Mayo, 20 Feb 2008
I have to agree with the bad reviews of this film, its way too long and very boring. I thought it would never end, I actually fell asleep for awhile and when I woke up it was still going!

What's it about....
It is 1933, and vaudeville actress Ann Darrow (Oscar nominee Naomi Watts) has found herself - like so many other New Yorkers during the Great Depression - without the means to earn a living. Unwilling to compromise and allow herself to sink into a career in burlesque, she considers her limited options while aimlessly wandering the streets of Manhattan. When her hunger drives her to unsuccessfully try to steal an apple from a fruit vendor's stall, she is rescued - literally...
