a slight love story..

Good performances by the central characters but this is a slight enough tale about two people who meet and form a tentative bond over the course of one day.
Dustin and Emma make for a very unlikely pairing, and for a romantic drama, there is very little in the way of passion or romance going on. You get the feeling that these are two people who have been bruised and hurt by previous relationships, and that neither are going to succumb to any instant Cupid moment.

A TV movie on TV3 would've been better
Claire from Dublin, 07 Jul 2010
How did this film ever get made??? Tiresome, clichéd, no chemistry between Hoffman & Thompon. Only watched it to the end to see could it get any worse. To be honest a TV movie on TV3 would have been more entertaining. Or perhaps if it had been a foreign language film it might've had a bit more oomph. Screenclick, please remove this one from your shelves!
A lovely film

We opened the box and my wife said "I hate Emma Thompson" I replied, "I hate Dustin Hoffmann" the good news is that in this film they act well together and the annoying 'twee-ness' is part of Emma's character and the horrible nervousness of Hoffman is part of his. the story is simply told and is well told and well acted.
Boring...

Pretty dreadful film really. I'd always thought you were on to a banker with Emma Thompson but this is wholly unbelievable. Watched it through to the end (as there as nothing else on) to see if it would improve but not at all. As my wife put it succinctly: "pure shite, wasn't it?".
nothing to see here

pity bout the script, leaving these two fabulous actors walking around (seriously, they are walking around london near the thames) for two hours doing very little. If i had another chance, i would have chosen something else to watch instead.
