4.5 out of 10 One of the great French films
Philip from Dublin, 25 Jul 2010
This is an amazing, sprawling film, as French as fois gras. It is an epic about the theatre and a manage a trois (or more, its hard to count sometimes) in a world of actors, egos, mimes and great loves. Its gorgeous to look at, featuring amazing performances. Its hugely melodramatic and over the top, but somehow holds it all together. Maybe the greatest of all French films, essential viewing for film lovers.

1 out of 10 It may be a classic but I wonder...
Peter from Carlow, 28 Jan 2011
Sat through the first half and enjoyed the mime and the historical aspect but only just maintained contact. Then at the end of part one I felt i had seen enough to convince me that it was time to return it and get something that would engross or move, or stimulate me so returned it with part two unviewed and dont feel my life will be unduly disturbed as a result!

4.5 out of 10 Jolies Enfants Du paradis
Lyn from Cork, 04 May 2008
Well worth a watch, this French black and white classic is very stylized with a mythic, epic quality to it. Beautifully atmospheric, it looks at the choices we make and how we may or may not regret these later on in life. An engaging and wonderful love story.

0 out of 10 Les Enfants Terrible!
stephen from Cork, 08 May 2007
If you like French films it would be a start but God is this film long and boring. After watching the trailer - which went on and on and on I realised it wasn't for me. My other half who thinks they are a Francophile gave up after half an hour.

What's it about....
Voted 'The Best French Film ever made' by the French Film Academy. Les Enfants du Paradis is a film of such dazzling proportions it has been labelled the French Gone With The Wind. Set amidst the glittering theatre world of 19th century Paris, the story revoles around the beautiful and free-spirted courtesan, Garanace, and the four men who compete for her affections; a mime-artist, an actor, an aristocrat and a criminal. As the melodrama unfolds, we are treated to one of...
