4.5 out of 10 Mrs Henderson Presents
Jennifer from Donegal, 19 Apr 2009
When you see Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins names in the cast you know you are in for a treat. What i found a surprising revelation was just how good an actor Will Young is.I must confess to not previously being fan but I found his portrayal of Bertie endearing. It is inspired by true events and I thought it accurately portrayed the era of pre-war and then wartime Britain. It was entertaining and enjoyable.

3.5 out of 10 Worth a view.
Ciaran from Dublin, 24 Apr 2008
Entertaining stuff with some fine actors thrown in make for decent movie experience, and the pretty girls help too! An old rich woman invests in a theatre during WWII and decides to give the lads some titillation before they head off to be killed, as she considers that most will have never seen a naked woman before they die. Fine intentions and it's all handled well.

5 out of 10 Cracker
Margaret from Dublin, 16 Apr 2007
This is a great film. It's a comedy that also very successfully pulls off being a serious film! Judy Dench and Bob Hoskins are amazing, each of them having had the script written with them in mind. Not wanting to sound cliché, but you'll laugh, you'll cry and you'll see a great film.

4 out of 10 Dame Judy carries it
Mark from Galway, 25 Aug 2009
I like Dame Judy. I think she can act and brings something to most of what she does. So I enjoyed this film. I didn't know the plot beforehand or the real life story behind it, but I bothered to look it up after. Good entertainment, funny and informative. worth a watch.

4 out of 10 Its okay
Mark from Dublin, 25 Jan 2008
Its pretty harmless story of a theatre run by some old lass in the second world war that caused an uproar by providing nude shows despite the fact that the girls where covered up by feathers etc.with a few big hitters in the cast easy entertainment.

What's it about....
Mrs. Laura Henderson (Judi Dench) may be a widow but she is by no means going to spend the rest her days playing bridge. The Windmill Theatre becomes her raison d'etre and the notorious showman Vivian Van Dam (Bob Hoskins) becomes her business partner and fiercest opponent. The Germans are bombing London but the roar of the Windmill is all that can be heard as Mrs Henderson convinces Lord Cromer (Christopher Guest) to allow her actresses to be the one thing no one could ever...
