Having watched this film many times over I can say that it is one of the 'rawest' films made about life for a family which see's the husband's violent nature at first hand. Tthe film takes you through several different emotions while watching, always a good sign, and you are left with the feeling of deep sympathy for the mother. Would recommend this film in any top 10 listing.

One of the best films I've ever seen. Brilliant performances all around and a gripping story as well.
The violence is pretty graphic and there are times when it's hard to watch but that's just a measure of how good the acting is.
Not far from the truth

Gets to grips with an issue not far from the surface in NZ, having witnessed domestic experiences of both tenderness and aggression in this great land to say this movie is not a distance from the truth.

Extremely violent movie with a great cast. Domestic violence in the life of a Mauri family is the theme. Must watch
