Not BAD but not good!
Nuala from Dublin, 23 Jun 2011
This film was like something a final year film student would make and they would have done a fine job ...however for a writer and director of the calibre of it Neil Jordan was a total disappointment. Unrealistic, sentimental, and way too fantastic for its own good. It is watchable and it will hold your interest but there have been way too many films like it before.
Good, but could have been better!

Alicja Bachleda is fabulous and captivating in the central role and leaves Colin Farrell behind as the "star"of the film. The Film is lighter than most of Jordan's ventures and this is not his best picture. It's enjoyable and clever, but just lacks substance. You won't be wasting your time in watching it, but don't expect Jordan's usual impact.
Watchable

There was noting wrong with this movie, it was quite watchable and all of the characters are likeable enough. On the down side, it's a little slow and not very strong on the story side.
Salty Fairytale.

Reasonable performances and lovely camera work give this Irish feelgood enough substance to recommend viewing.

For all the hype I thought this might be a bit better
OK story, worth watching though.
