Long and slow voyage of discovery

This is one of those arty films that we are supposed to love but tend to get bored watching it and never make the end of it! It is nicely shot and has good strong characters but the pace of the movie is way too slow and simplistic, the story is takes ages to develop and its hard to maintain interest...and having watched it all i'm not sure if it is worth maintaining the interest- although there are plenty who will enjoy the experiecnce over-all. I didn't like the ending, too arty instead of real!

I would recommend this to anyone... well, anyone prepared to take their time and allow themselves to be drawn in to savour a truly delicious piece of film making. The story is simple, about a lost love and wrecked lives. The setting is amazing - the drama mostly taking place in the Texas's parched desert landscape, where a lost soul, Travis, is found wandering. A victim of his past, the story of how he reclaims his life absolutely wrenches you. Ry Cooder's music throughout is truly beautiful a
