Very enjoyable film

I really enjoyed this film, although i was told by somebody that it was so bad she walked out of the cinema. I am so glad i decided to give this a go and see for myself. Both actors are so good and tell the story of their lives together so well, I do like films about real life and this one explores the way day to day life can become so mundane and people get stuck in routines and loose their ambition, with terrible consequences in this case.

Wonderful study of life

This a wonderful film but not for the faint-hearted. I can say I've been there and got the t-shirt for most of this story and can really relate to it. Kate Winslet fully deserves her film award nominations for this and Leonardo is wonderful too. A film of true integrity which looks unflinchingly at modern life and relationships and really makes you think. Are you courageous enough to watch it without dismissing it's message?

Powerful

As has alkready been stated, this is not for everyone but for those willing to invest the effort then this has rewards to give. Two top notch performances, an excellent script, an ominous score and a camera that displays suburbia as being a sort of prison all combine to elevate this above the norm. Mendez doesn't make many movies but those he makes are good. Check out his 'Away We Go' after this to lighten the mood!
Did't live up to expectations

I was so looking forward to this film, as we know Leonardo and Kate have good relationship in film but I was disappointed, acting was brilliant as always but the storyline not great, bit frustrating I have to say, very slow and tedious, kept waiting for something to happen and when it did it was expected, watch it but don't build your hopes up!
Surprisingly good

I sat down to watch with some apprehension after being informed the book was a bit of slog to get through, but I actually enjoyed the movie and it really was a good insight into suburbia with Winslet and De caprio delivering very good performances would even recommend this to others, they both have come a long way from the Titanic days.
