Salmon Fishing In The Yemen (2011)

3.5 out of 10 Unlikely feel good movie
A member from Dublin, 25 Sep 2012
Despite its eyebrow raising title this is a good light comedy. The cynical Ewan McGreggor is tasked by the lovely Emily Blunt to construct a salmon fishery in the Yemen. This is funded ( of course ) by a rich fishing mad sheik. The film clips along with some sharp banter and skullduggery thrown in. Emily provides the love interest with a twist in the end. Not the worst way to spend saturday night in.

4 out of 10 Endearing

Really enjoyed this film. Wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea as the story is quite slow going and of course it's about fish! However, the story is very genuine. The depth and growth of the characters both individually and how they react together is fantastic - excellant acting all round. A very easy to watch film that is humorous, compelling and endearing.

2 out of 10 Yawn

If you're the sort of person who falls asleep watching a film, this one's for you. The first bit is good, funny and interesting characters, but the plot descends into a lazy unbelievable farce, most of which is a vehicle to carry through a predictable love story. Or you could watch with the sound down if you like pretty scenery.

5 out of 10 A lovely lovely film

This is a really great film. The story, the acting, the scenery. It's all superb. Okay there's a needless love story but that seems to be in every film now. This is just a great night in.
