3.5 out of 10 Worth watching
Mark from Galway, 18 Apr 2013
I've read a lot of negative reviews of this film and i would say that it depends on why you are watching it as to what you get from it. if you are watching because of its awards and publicity i think you may well be disappointed. if though you are watching to see a modern silent movie, accepting that it will be different and limited due to lack of dialogue and aware that there is a certain nostalgia aimed at by the makers then like me you will probably enjoy it

1.5 out of 10 Btter silent movie out there
Brian from Roscommon, 11 Oct 2012
Didn’t really Like this movie, maybe I have not arty enough to watch it, Found it slow moving, I think better off watching a silent movie of the time like Sunrise , gold rush or the best one I think nosferatu. Only one of handful of movies I have turned off half way through it.

4.5 out of 10 Lovely, sweet and perfectly imagined
Barbara from Cork, 30 Jul 2012
Be prepared for an unusual experience - makes you feel you're really watching a film from the 20's-30's, but with funny, sad sweet moments, great music and touches of modern humor. The two leads are both amazing but I must say Peppy Miller is an absolute gem.

4.5 out of 10 A 'nice' film
Seamus from Monaghan, 02 Feb 2013
I thoroughly enjoyed the film. But forgot all about it the next day. In two weeks time if you ask if I"ve seen it I won't remember. It was entertaining and well acted. I hated the dog! But all in all I don't regret watching it.

4.5 out of 10 Beautiful
Niamh from Cork, 23 Apr 2013
I watched this with the family with a sore head after a very late night and I couldn't have picked a better movie. It's just gorgeous, heart-warming, sweet, not trite in any way.

What's it about....
Hollywood, 1927: As silent movie star George Valentin wonders if the arrival of talking pictures will cause him to fade into oblivion, he sparks with Peppy Miller, a young dancer set for a big break.
