Good, but long!

A really long movie but a brilliant depiction of post war Germany and the break-down of Germany's reserved and formal way of life. It's about a bunch of Germans who become terrorists against their own government to prove a point. All they end up doing really is becoming a carbon copy of any other follower movement. Heart's are in the right place at the beginning but their cause spirals into an injust act of terrorism. Great detail, but really long and drawn out drama.

This is a bit of a letdown after the same directors brilliant 'Downfall'. Its a complex attempt to look at the infamous Baader Meinhoff gang. It succeeds very well at showing the mix of narcissm, youthful anger, mindless sloganising, but also genuine anger at corruption fueled the near suicidal acts of terror by a bunch of mainly middle class dreamers. However, as a film it tries too much, its a bit too fragmentary, with too many token characters.

Not a patch on Downfall. Hard characters to engage with , long drawn out film which introduces many new characters throughout. Follows the gang from their beginning fueled by heady violence, to their depressing failure and demise.

A good account of the terror campaign waged by the Red Army Faction in the late 60's and 70's. The only downside to watching this film was that some of the subtitles were very hard to keep up with.

A re-telling of the rise of the RAF in Germany. Watch how it all went from arson to high-profile kidnappings and how it shook the country at the time.
Felt that the time was very well captured.
