Confused

I gave this a 5 as it is the one of the strangest films recently. I've also seen reviews of it ranging fom one star to four stars(out of 5), so my rating is in the middle as I am confused.
This film starts off with a simple proposition that gets you thinking. Once the initial will they won't they decision is made, everything takes a left-field dive, heading into zoombie/sci/fi/psychological/what-the-hell-is-going-on territory.

As most reviewers have said, this seemed like it could be an interesting idea for a film but it totally flopped after the first half hour or so. It was like they had this great idea but no way of developing it further. There was some kind of mind control going on and a vague hint it was from aliens that came down in a lightening storm but it was all so confusing that it was hard to follow. It was that bad that I've forgotten how this ends, terrible film, dont rent at any cost, not even a million

Started off reasonably Ok with an interesting proposition but the plot fell apart half way through with all kinds of nonsense about the NSA, aliens, lightnening strikes, etc. and the ending left me wondering wtf was that all about - where was the moral of the story?
in a nutshell, don't bother with this movie - Cameron Diaz should stick with the chick flicks ..

Was expecting so much from this movie from the previews i'd seen. Thought the initial story was very interesting, great potential. But as it went on it just got strange, with all the alien like stuff. No satisfactory explanation given really, and i was so confused i coulden't come up with an answer either!!

This sounded very good on paper and did start out quite good, the dilemma between choosing to open the box for the money knowing that someone would die, but it very quickly descended into farce and like something out of the twilight zone, and the ending was very silly,
