The Duchess

Enjoyable even though it is a sad film - folks making the best of a bad lot and all that. The dialogue is a bit modern in places.Tthe story is a poignant tale with more than a passing reference to the similarities between Princess Diana and her ancestor Georgiana Spencer, the Duchess (played by Keira). The cast were good - Ralph Fiennes was excellent playing the unsympathetic Duke of Devonshire. Beautifully filmed and wonderful costumes.
Stunning!

This is a stunning and beautifully filmed real life drama. The story is amazing and the backgound where it plays out is just perfect. The actors are at the height of their game and really make you realize how far women have come since the C18th. Princess Di's life has huge parallels with her ancestor Georgiana's - not to be missed.

loved it. great actors, costumes, sets etc. special interest to me as I am living not too far from the present Duke of Devonshire's land. actually neighbours. Lands "given" by Elizabeth 1. in the good old days....won't start on the
gentry but they never had it so easy back then.all very interesting and a film well worth a watch.
Surprisingly good

Thought this would be more chick flick than period drama but it was very good and the story quite shocking considering it is based on a true story Knightley does what she does best in the whole period gig not too worried about typecast is she well worth a watch
Not bad at all

I thought this would be a rather dull period costume chick flick yawn, but it's really rather good. Well acted, looks great ( costumes, sets, etc. )
Well worth a look. I surprised myself by liking it, even though it lacks explosions and vampire aliens.
