3.5 out of 10 Just OK
Nuala from Dublin, 04 Sep 2012
This is most definitely not a bad film but it just dosen't have enough substance to it. Just because its a true story dosn't make it fascinating. But, I sure an glad I didn't come from a famiely like this...Mother of Jasus, what a shower of skangers.

2 out of 10 A movie with very forgettable characters
Nenad from Dublin, 25 Apr 2012
Very little to comment in this film, its not awful it just does not try that hard. Very formulaic story about characters which you have no interest. Boy meets girl; boy and girl clash with family especially elder brother; happy ending.

I found this film was very slow at the start but I stuck with it and really enjoyed it then. Well worth a watch

What's it about....
Mark Wahlberg stars in this inspirational docudrama that explores the remarkable rise of Massachusetts-born, junior welterweight title winner 'Irish' Micky Ward. A determined pugilist whose career in the ring was shepherded by his loyal half-brother, Dicky (Christian Bale) -- a hard-living boxer-turned-trainer whose own career in the ring was nearly sent down for the count due to drugs and crime -- perennial underdog Irish Micky rebounded from a disheartening series of defeats...
