This movie couldn't get over itself, it was self indulgent and trying too hard to be arty, I like arthouse and unusual films but this one just dragged on and was boring, although the cinematography and scenery was very nice. it was about captain john smith and pocahontas, but actually pocahontas was only 11 or 12 when she met john smith and he was 27 and they were never anything close to lovers but this isn't the first historically revised edition of the story. of course in this movie pocahotas was a 20 something year old super model, how those native american girls managed to get waxed in the jungle I'll never understand! I completely disagree with the other reviews on this site, true this film movies at a languid pace but viewers that are familiar with The Thin Red Line will be aware that director Terence Malick's methods are not like those of most other film makers. If you enjoy films that move at their own pace, are exquisitely shot and feature wonderful soundtracks then you'll enjoy this film. As for the complaints about the acting, Bale and Farrell have never been accused of understatement in the performan

I did not get it - at all.
I am usually a fan of slow, deep, historical movies but that one.....it was just too silent!
Half of the conversations you could not understand at all as it was all whispered, the connections of the scenes....did not exist!
Someone wanted to make an unusual movie with depth and mixed it up with a very very slow and sometimes really boring movie!
Could not believe there was another and another and another scene....NO THANKS!!

I cannot recall a time I was more bored with a movie than with this one. As one who likes historical flicks (take Apocalypto as one I appreciated a lot) this one just left me cold, bored and waiting for Colin Farrell and the girl to stop wandering the fields of long grass and get on with it. Slow, boring and pointless. Give me 'Last of the Mohicans' any day!

I did not enjoy this movie, very slow moving, very boring. If you enjoy a film like the thin red line then this is probably your type of film as thats the closest experience I can compare to watching this...and the thin red line was better than this...but still boring and preachy as hell.
