Deserving Oscar for Helen.

Helen Mirren is superb as 'cabbge' AKA The Queen. The movie centres around how and why the Royals behaved the way they did around the death of Diana and how much power the tabloids had in the event.
I never realised The Queen was quite so active and despite some strange decisions from her behalf came away with some respect for her. Glad I was not born into such a family. Cherie Blair seems to wear the trousers in the PMs house but Tony steps up to the mark when required. Better than expected.

IS this propaganda?

This really was hyped to hell so it really begs the question why? The acting is fine but thats all really. If you have to pick your cast so that they are basically lookey/likeys it says allot about what you are trying to do. Flatter. And really that is all that happens in this movie. By the end everyone is restored to a positive light and is portrayed as if nothing happened. Marrian Finuchane could have played the Queen as convincingly. It's a movie that obviously had royal approval. Its OK.

did YOU cry for Diana

amazing. ms. mirren is more Queen than Queen herself. Diana still wins, of course, but at very least you can taste Queenie's bewilderment. The overall message is that the world is no longer ruled by the stiff-upper-lip: duty, prudence & restraint have given way to openness, sensitivity & responsiveness. all of which the event taught us but the cautionary note here is excellently delivered. Perhaps better to have some control: hysteria & impulse are a poor substitute for honour & integrity..

boring

there is some very good acting but the whole movie is just boring and tells nothing that we didn't know already , the queen is a hateful woman and the whole royal family thing is a 40 million a year joke . try not to laugh to much when the queen says the line " thats why the whole world admires us " haha! yeah right. great acting like i said but would far rather sit down and watch a good entertaining movie
Okay

Somewhat dull but well performed movie about life in the royal household in the week after the death of the Princess Diana. The movie gives depth to the oftentimes one-dimensional image that the public has of the royals and has it's funny and touching moments. All in all not enough substance but worth a watch for Helen Mirrens impresive portrayal of the Queen. I thought blair was pretty good to.
