An excellent portrayal

I was sceptical about this movie after all the hype it received but was pleasantly suprised. Mickey Rourke puts in the performance of his life as Randy "The Ram" Robinson, a former superstar wrestler, who continues to wrestle on the small circuit despite his age and health problems.
It is a somewhat depressing but intriguing insight into the lives of these sports stars and what inevitably becomes of some of them once their careers end.
An excellent movie.

The Wrestler

Great casting and acting along with a somber tale that shows the bleak reality to the "american dream" and the people who live in hope for it. Well worth the hype it recieved although the script and movie falls short in making it a real classic. Perhaps if Eastwood had directed it might have given it that extra edge! well worth the time and great to see Micky Rourke back.
The Wrestler

I actually had to turn this off due to the violence of this. It does give a reall account of the wrestling world. I have a strong stomach but after seeing a man get stapled with am industrial staple gun or cutting his own forehaed with a razorblade for entertainment I really couldnt face viewing the rest of this.
Well Worth Watching

This is a surprisingly good film. Mickey Rourke is asked to play the role of Mickey Rourke and does it very well. It's hard not to like the film. As someone who never was into wrestling or wwf etc I still enjoyed the portrayal of these guys and how they work and sadly how they can end up.
A great film.
Honest movie

Worth a look even just for Rourkes performance. Gritty and honest. Dont expect anything spectactular. Its a simple story without the hollywood glam. There are probably thousands of guys just like this in the states be it wrestling, boxing, football, baseball etc.
