3 out of 10 Hard work
Brian from Dublin, 14 May 2012
I found it unnecessarily complicated. Having to maintain so many different names, organisations, events, nicknames etc in your head simultaneously when they're only referred to by someone muttering under their breath (you REALLY need to turn on the subtitles for this one) is a pain in the arse. This may make sense in the book or TV series but doesnt work in a film. It could have been a great film if they'd distilled it down to the essentials. Even the summary of the plot on wikipedia is complicated! I recommend having a notepad/whiteboard at the ready if you do watch this...

5 out of 10 A masterpiece.
Niall from Cork, 07 Sep 2012
I had heard from others that this was difficult to follow so I was on guard to pay attention. I really don't know what the problem is. This is a wonderful piece, keeping you guessing and engaged right up to the end. Gary Oldman as "Smiley" is absolutely amazing. Loved it. On a sobering note, my better half did not even bother to fall asleep watching it, she went to bed after a couple of scenes. Maybe one for the boys?

2 out of 10 Hard work!
Nicholas from Dublin, 14 Jun 2012
This film is not for the faint hearted - its a hard watch. This is mainly because it is slow moving and confusing at times. It is not an unejoyable movie (due to a great cast) but i felt slightly bewildered all the way through the film and relieved when it was over. This film is only for those who might be interested in the spy era and wont miss and "James Bond" moments

Excellent film all round. Great cast and great acting. Also very true to the original novel. Requires total concentration though so go easy on the vino if you plan to watch this.
