Set in Depression era America this film follows the story of events as seen through the eyes of a young girl. There are underlying racial tensions as well as the odd young man who local legend has it tried to kill his father. The film takes one on an interesting journey with an unexpected ending. It is taught in places and Peck is outstanding as the lawyer/father figure.a good classic film.

Excellent film & Gregory Peck was an excellent actor. Just goes to show the unfairness of racism & how someone may not be liked and the reasons are not true......
