4.5 out of 10 Great Movie!
Valeria from Wicklow, 29 Apr 2012
This is an excellent movie! Peter Mullan gives a masterful performance as Joseph, an angry, cynical man, who has been ground down by poverty and drink. He has lost faith in himself and feels he is a bad man. But then he meets Hannah, who shows him love and kindness. The discovery of the tragedy her life and her vulnerability, gives him a reason to feel needed again.

4 out of 10 Moving, slow, worthwhile
Mark from Galway, 18 Apr 2013
I enjoyed this. its slow moving so no 'action scenes' to talk of, the language is pretty bad and the ending is not what i expected when i started watching. the acting from the main characters is good, the plot interesting, you can sympathise with certain people and not with others and overall i'm glad i have seen it

5 out of 10 Quality Movie
Eilish from Cork, 10 Jul 2012
I knew nothing about this movie, but the guy who called to my door to get me to sign-on to screenclick highly recommended it. It was excellent, set in a very bleak Scottish setting following two very damaged people lives. Violent at times, but watchable, a lot is left unsaid & left to the viewers imagination.

3 out of 10 Tough going
david from Dublin, 05 Jul 2012
Like most paddy considine / peter mullan films the scenes were very dark and tough going. However, the film brightens up in the end and its definitely worth a watch if your into either of them.

3.5 out of 10 Depressing but good
Jonathan from Westmeath, 08 Apr 2012
Good, true to life tale of living on the fringes. My husband couldn't take it and had to leave half way through. I really enjoyed the film. Strangely uplifting in a dark sort of way.
