This is a simply brilliant film. I remember the book well and wished I could see the play but the film is brilliant. The acting is simple and easy to watch and the direction and camera work are stunning. The action scenes in WW1 are well done, not over the top but not pleasant to watch either. All in all this is a great film.
Watchable horse stuff

Yea. I remember the hype when this came out. It's steven spielberg so it is watchable. Unbelievable( in a bad way), sentimental but watchable. If there was a time of day for a movie it would be after breakfast on a wet tuesday if you've nothing better to watch.
Probably more for juniors..

A nice movie, safe enough for all the family, but probably more kids-oriented than I was expecting. I should have read more reviews :-) Anyway, if you love Lassie or Black Beauty you'll love this.... Maybe I was hoping for more of a story, like Seabiscuit.

Spielberg has done better. it is a good story, well shot and good acting, even if the accents are vague, but a lot of far fetchedness (but then again, he did E/T.). it is very enjoyable and a good "feel good" movie.
Looks great but not much more

Maybe I'm just not sentimental enough about horses but this didn't do a lot for me. Fabulously shot (no, I don't mean the horse) and well acted but the story just didn't interest me.
