My favourite film of 2011

Something about Warrior just takes hold of you and doesn't let go. While the plot is full of standard sports movie tropes, albet in the relatively new sport of mixed martial arts, the film transcends the potential clichés to become something purely wonderful.
The heart of the film are two brothers set on an inevitable collision course as each enters the MMA tournament for very different reasons. Joel Edgerton is brilliant as Brendan, the ex-fighter turned physics teacher who goes back into the ring to save his family home from repossession. Tom Hardy as his brother Tommy, an ex-Marine with a secret, is a force of nature, filled with such rage, pain and raw power that it is impossible to look away when he is onscreen.
The supporting cast are also excellent - Oscar nominee Nick Nolte is particularly good as the recovering alcoholic seeking a last chance to redeem himself for the years of abuse he meted out to his sons, but Frank Grillo is also great as Brendan's trainer, who plays
Action packed edge of seat stuff

It's sad how many times I finish a movie and think, I was only slightly bored a few times during that movie. It was pretty good. Well this movie left me bored at no stage. Ok I watched some of the fight scenes through my fingers to try and dull the violence but I was secretly thrilled. It was brilliant. Tom Hardy was excellent as usual making me root for a guy who's essentially moody and monosyllabic for most of the film. Nick Nolte was great too. Everyone was good. Story might be a little far fetched but what are action movies for? I highly recommend.
Very good, could have been better

Expectation of this film was overwhelming and to a certain extent it didnt disappoint. Great action sequences, great story of family etc but a few drawbacks. Hard to engage with the main character Tommy. He might as well be on Eastenders, he spends 2 hours whinging and in the end you dont want him to win. Lots of unbelievable parts, even for 'leave the brain at the door' action. Well worth a watch but far from the best film of the year.

Really enjoyed this, something for everyone. Gritty, well detailed storyline. Very good acting by all......Tom Hardy does shine in this though above the rest. Doesn't hold alot of surprises but fast paced and action packed.......definitely worth seeing.
2 hours of my life wasted

No idea how this film gets good reviews here and on IMDB. It is the definition of american cliche, and only fit for consumption by a 12 year old. I cannot find anything good to say about this film. To be avoided if you have any working brain cells.
