Exceptional achievement - not for everyone

In making The Watchmen into a motion Picture, Snyder has avoided the temptation to make it more palatable for mainstream audiences. Hence the very mixed reviews. I watched the 3.5 hour 'Ultimate' cut and yes, it was hugely long but it needed to be to stay true to the source material. This it did very well. Yes, some part stray (most notably the finale) but the whole 'feel' is captiured incredibly well. and that's the thing, some people will just repel that whole way of story telling. As ot

Don't know what some of the other reviewers are on about. I haven't read the comic and am usually very skeptical about comic book adaptions (I just got sick of them, didn't you?). But this one was worth watching. Set in an alternate reality where superheroes do exist, having fallen from their height they are now shuned by the public and many have retired or tried to blend in to society. It is the early 70's and the US and Russia are on the brink of nuclear war. Someone is killing old superh

If you haven't read the graphic novel then this is probably to be avoided. I have read it and I enjoyed this movie although I thought the acting was very poor with the exception of Jackie Earle Haley who plays far and away the book and the film's most interesting character - Rorschach. The style of the movie is terrif

Wish I'd read the reviews before renting this one!

The costumes and set are quite good. Other than that though this one is fairly drab, with boring characters apart from "the comedian" which is well acted. Had heard this movie was critically acclaimed but I really can't understand why. Also heard it was a darker batman type film, but it really doesn't touch on the entertainment value of the recent batman movies. Not much fun to be had with this one!

My kind of movie

After watching this I can understand why there are such mixed reviews for this movie. I read the book years ago and it changed the way that I viewed the whole genre of the Graphic Novel.
This movie hasn't changed the way I watch films but, to me anyway, it lived up to the hype. It is not quite as good as The Dark Knight but it is certainly up there with the best of the superhero movies.
