3.5 out of 10 Watchable
Monika from Cork, 19 Nov 2011
If you were into the cool visuals of the previous movies, you probably won't enjoy this a lot as the emphasis is on the story and less on special effects this time round. That's a two-edged sword though: it's interesting and entertaining to see the background to how the X-Men and the Xavier/Magneto split came about. However, if you're a fan of X-Men, you already know most of it. Still, it's nice and different to see a storyline focused movie of this genre. Michael Fessbender is excellent as Magneto.

4.5 out of 10 Rent it now

I was a bit apprehensive about the concept of a prequel to a great franchise but this delivers in spades. Great casting, quality story and some original new characters. Would happily watch all 4 again

3.5 out of 10 Pretty good
Alec from Dublin, 04 Feb 2012
Perfect Friday night fare. Good cast and effects. Like any X-men film a lot of it makes no sense but don't let that bother you, it's entertaining stuff. Hopefully there will be another one along soon

4 out of 10 Great stuff
Eamon from Meath, 28 Nov 2011
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Wasn't particularly a fan of the franchise but this would make me want to watch the others now, with a different mindset. The back story really helps.

What's it about....
Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were arch enemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-MEN.
