Misses Completely

Sadly I can't find a lot of good about this art-house film either. While the basic concept is fine - grieving couple and their subsequent meltdown, the result leaves a lot to be desired. Aside from Triers' very obvious intention to shock he never manages to capture or map out the collapse of the couple.
Not having any other characters also makes it difficult for the story to go anywhere. Overall this is self-indulgent and over-clever and it replaces a story with scenes that merely serve to shock

Controversial for the wrong reasons

Took quite a while to get into the thick of the story line. The way the picture is shot also alludes to it being a horror but nothing of that nature ever presents itself.
The plot is all over the place also with twist and turns that never get fully explained.
Main story full of holes and by the end you are not any wiser as to why certain aspects of the story were included. Only two scenes worth mentioning are the masturbation/cum blood scene and the genital mutilation/clit severed.
Woman wi

Shocking

The whole reason for this film was to shock the audience, i can find no other reason to watch it. The plot was flawed with no real conclusions, the story was full of holes, the relationship btn the couple went from fine to maniac in a matter of minutes with no real explanations. I do enjoy a bit of gore but this was even a bit much for me (esp as a woman :-).
What was I thinking?

If it was possible to give an negative rating then this film would earn it. It is arthouse rubbish. Only for people how like to watch William Defoe's ass (which I'm guessing is just William Defoe).
I thought it might improve but actually by the end of it I wished they all fell out the window at the begining.
Do yourself a favour and do not rent this muck!

Dont bother with this, as said by other reviewers plot all over the place, twists are well not of great importance to the Story, oh yea what story. I thought this might be good with Willem Defoe definately not the case. in fact i have spent to much time even reviewing this piece of crap. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
